Two New Bus Connects routes are planned for Lucan, one starting at Liffey Valley, the other near the Par 3 at J5.
Bus connects is holding a Public Meeting with videos, graphics and handouts to explain the proposal to Lucan residents.

Converting your attic is a great way of creating more space – and its reasonably low cost too.
Your loft can make a great teenagers bedroom, games room, a quiet study / sitting room for you.
But be aware that a habitable room on a third floor is considered a bigger risk than the first or ground floor – and rightly so.
In the event of a fire you need to be sure that the stairs down are fire resistant, that there is an alarm that’s linked to the ones downstairs, that there is a window you can get out of and that emergency services can get help to you.
So by all means do it – but do it safely.

The Transport Strategy for Dublin includes two next generation streamlined bus corridors for Lucan, one starting at J5 near the Spa hotel, the second starting at Liffey Valley.
The J5 point will include a Park & Ride facility with a dedicated car park, so it will service commuters from Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth.
Natural growth and urbanisation means that Dublin’s population will grow and grow.
Traffic volumes are of course increasing every month and it seems the North Quay route is a permanent bottleneck; an efficient public transport system is essential if traffic isn’t going to grind to a halt.
Lucan has a relatively small population, around 32,000. We are less than 12% of the total South Dublin population of 280,000, so we won’t merit a Bus Rapid Transit system or dedicated Luas.
The new system is scheduled to have it’s first pieces in place in 2019 and should cater for the city’s transport needs until 2035 – assuming of course that the funding is put in place.
It is a “whole system” plan, redesigning the entire bus network, not alone the routes into and out of the city but adding 3 orbital bus corridors. So, at long last, without going all the way into the city, your bus from Lucan will hook up with routes going to Terenure, Clonsilla, Swords, Dun Laoghaire.
There will also be a unified ticket system across all services, using cards, phones and flat payment models to speed up boarding. The sooner, the better.
