The Government is going to redraw the short-let landscape in order to push more landlords back toward the traditional private rental sector. In a normal market this would be considered as “interfering with the market” and it certainly feels almost unconstitutional that the legislature would step in and tell people what they may and may not do with their privately held assets.
After all, they’d hardly tell shareholders what shares to buy or sell, would they?
But this is a remarkably difficult market place and people’s lives and livelihoods are at stake.
The housing crisis is not going to end for some years yet and desperate times need desperate measures.
